The retirement of baby boomers and resurgence of manufacturing and other technical skills industries is creating a huge gap in the technical skills workforce

For example, more than 2 Million jobs will go unfilled in manufacturing in coming years due to shortage of skilled workers (see below)

These jobs don't require a 4 yr degree - and the subsequent student debt - but merely certificate based or 2 yr technical training

The Manufacturing Institute Report on Technical Skills Gap

The Manufacturing Institute, along with Deloitte, periodically study the changing workforce dynamics in manufacturing. This report published in 2015 estimates future production-oriented job growth in the sector as well as estimates likelihood of jobs being filled/unfilled.
